Bruce and Nate put in a 3-day backpacking trip in the Pemigewasset Wilderness 8/25/07 - 8/27/07. Click here for climb stats - see "Backpacking Trip 1" Nate and I had quite an adventure. I hope to write it up at some point since it was memorable and now that it's in the past I suppose I can consider it "entertaining". We ran the gamut of weather with everything except snow, we had heat, humidity, wicked lightning, thunder, downpours, fog, cold, wind, rain, and pleasant dry sunshine. We pushed our limits in the first two days in terms of a combination of distance and elevation gain, we had several equipment failure issues, and I had a number of annoying physical issues. We survived, and as I love to say, "that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger". :) SATURDAY AUGUST 25: 13 miles and 4 official 4K's (Zealand 4260', Bond 4698', Bondcliff 4265', and West Bond 4540') and one unofficial 4K (Guyot 4580'). It was a hot, humid, still air day. Bruce failed to hydrate properly and severely cramped up late in the day. We were chased off West Bond about 5:30pm by developing T-Boomers and dove into our tent as the light show of a lifetime began along with an orchestra of thunder and a deluge of driven rain. Nate donned rain gear and boiled hot water for dinner in one of the less violent breaks between 7pm and midnight.
